Here is the next post from the series “Temples: Architectural Wonders of India”!!!!!
Harishchandreshwar Temple is located on Harishchandra Fort. This is an ancient temple which is sculpted out of single huge basalt rock. This is one of the 12 temples built by King Jhanj of Shilahar dynasty. The temple has an entrance from all four sides. There are also few small temples and water tanks surrounding this temple. A river named Mangal Ganga originates from one of these water tanks. The total height of this temple from its base is around 16 meters. The temple is beautifully carved by many designs and inscriptions. One of the walls of this temple holds the inscription in Devanagari script which is about Saint Changdev. This temple is also misbelieved to be built by Hemadpanta similar to the Amruteshwar Temple (https://packthebacks.home.blog/2019/04/09/amruteshwar-temple/). There are many spots near Harishchandreshwar Temple such as Konkankada, Kedareshwar Cave, King’s Cave, Saptatirtha Pushkarni, Taramati Peak, Nageshwar Temple etc.
